Live In London als Masterband Kopie

The Austrian music label Horch House specializes in original 1:1 analogue copies of master tapes. In the EASY LISTENING section, the fifth album by Bert Kaempfert is currently available.

On April 22, 1974, Bert Kaempfert went on stage with his great orchestra for the first time in the venerable Royal Albert Hall in London and gave two live concerts on the same day.

Shortly afterwards, Polydor released 1975 the LP Live In London, a selection of 12 songs from the concert.

An extraordinary tribute album has been produced on the occasion of Bert Kaempfert’s 95th birthday: “Strangers In Dub” brings the easy listening maestro’s music into the present. The album is the work of Heidelberg producer Pit Baumgartner with his band De-Phazz, which has been a pioneer in the field of well-tempered downbeat sounds since the 90s.

A live recording from Frankfurt’s Alte Oper on 12 February 2008. Augmented by the Frankfurt Strings and the Berlin Voices, the Berlin Jazz Orchestra performed under the direction of Jiggs Whigham. Soloists included Ack van Rooyen (flugelhorn, trumpet), Herb Geller (saxophone, flute), Jiggs Whigham (trombone) and Ladi Geisler (bass) together with several of Bert Kaempfert’s fellow musicians. This concert was rounded off by, as special guests, jazz singer Sylvia Vrethammar, singer Marc Secara as well as pianist and entertainer Joja Wendt.

Ladi Geisler (27.11.1927 – 19.11.2011)

Ladi Geisler performed alongside international stars and brought his considerable skills to bear as a studio musician at productions beyond number. He made his career as a soloist, was the recipient of many an award and gave of his time to several institutions. And, above all, it was his unforgettable “Knack-Bass”, that percussive bass sound, which played such a significant role in characterizing the Bert Kaempfert sound.
